SNK promised to give fans a taste of what was coming for the future of The King of Fighters 15 this weekend, and they weren't lying.

Following the conclusion of their Evo 2022 grand finals, the developers announced Team Samurai Shodown is coming to KOF15 as the final DLC additions of Season 1 plus the confirmation that fan-favorites Shingo Yabuki and Kim Kaphwan are coming in Season 2.

As revealed in the new trailer, Team Samurai will consist of series icons Haohmaru and Nakoruru plus one of the popular additions from the 2019 entry in Darli Dagger.

No gameplay was shown for the time travelers, however, we can probably assume they'll play close to how Nakoruru was approached in King of Fighters 14.

Alongside Darli, this will be the first time Haohmaru is actually officially playable in a mainline KOF title.

The sword wielding trio will be coming to KOF15 sometime this autumn, and Season 2 will begin in 2023.

Although they were only shown off in artwork form, Shingo and Kim will be sporting new designs for the game with Yabuki sporting what looks to be a track suit and Kaphwan in a red and black shirt.

Kim was one of the biggest absences in KOF15's roster considering he'd been a mainstay of the series since it began in 1994 although he was first introduced in Fatal Fury 2.

Shingo was first introduced in King of Fighters '97 as a more lighthearted character who idolizes Kyo, and he hasn't been included in a new title since KOF11.

Like SNK previously confirmed, cross-platform play will also be coming to KOF15 across PlayStation, Xbox and PC, which is planned to arrive some time in 2023.

To help get fans even more excited, SNK also announced a brand new Fatal Fury / Garou title is now in the works too.
