Xbox Game Studios partners with Tencent's Timi Studios

By Sean Carey,
Timi Studios, one of the world's largest mobile game developers owned by Chinese industry giant Tencent, has entered into a "strategic partnership" with Xbox Games Studios.

Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad first spotted the news, noting that the Chinese press release doesn't give away much information about the partnership but does say it will "revolve around new game experiences." Timi Studios, which reportedly generated $10 billion in revenue in 2020, is responsible for mobile games such as Honor Kings and Call of Duty Mobile. The developer is also working on Pokemon Unite, a free-to-play MOBA coming to both mobile and Nintendo Switch.

With the new partnership, it's possible we could see a bunch more mobile games (hopefully with achievements) launch for the Xbox platform. Timi and Xbox Game Studios could develop a mobile game for any of Microsoft's existing IPs, such as Halo, Forza, or even Gears of War.

Anyone up for Gears POP! 2?
